The Dritek Hanger V2 has landed!
The eagerly awaited launch of Dritek’s ‚version 2‘ multi-purpose heavy-duty hanger, has finally happened. The development and production of the V2 took a little longer than we thought, but we’re really pleased to announce that it’s now available in the UK. Over the coming weeks we’ll be launching across Europe, then the US and then Australia, via the Amazon retail network.
But what’s new? How’s it different to the original Dritek Hanger? We’re expecting to be asked these questions a lot over the next few months, so here it is, straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
Firstly, the mould/tool we used for the original Dritek Hanger was spent, meaning it could no longer make good quality hangers. So we had to make a new one anyway. This gave us the opportunity to evolve the design and implement some of the ideas and feedback we’d got from our thousands of happy customers.
So, with the help of Mike Jones, the Head of Design at Mainetti (UK), our new production partners, we set about designing the 2nd generation hanger.
Firstly, we wanted it to be made with 100% recycled plastic, so it had to be a little bit stronger by design, to allow for the potential inconsistency of recycled plastics. So it’s a little thicker and the ‚D-Ring‘ (what the strap goes through) moved from the top into the body of the hanger. The original hanger was strong (we’ve never heard of any breaking, from anywhere in the world), but the V2 is even stronger.
Then there’s the horizontal ‚cross bar‘. We wanted this to be more curved, to be even more gentle to wetsuits, so we made it a C-beam as opposed to an I-beam. This allowed the cross bar to be more ergonomic. The diagonal ’shoulder bars‘ remained as I-beams to maintain the hanger’s strength.
Also, the ‚grip fingers‘ (the things sticking out from the sides), that were originally designed to apply a gentle pinch to wetsuits and trousers hung over the cross bar (to stop them from slipping off), were reinforced to be weight bearing, as we found out that people were hanging waders and motorbike trousers from them. And we ‚up turned‘ the ends to ensure anything hung off them couldn’t slip off either.
And the rest, is pretty much the same as the original Dritek Hanger PRO, with the foam covered carabiner, which prevents any noise or scratching on whatever it’s hung from.
The other big difference is that it’s now made in the UK, with this first batch made in Jedburgh and assembled in Wrexham. This allows us to have more control over quality and we (and therefore our customers) are not paying for shipping from China!
We are absolutely delighted, and proud, with the outcome. And we hope you’ll like it too.
